Project: Financial Assurance and Life of Site Annual Calculations for ODEQ and ALFA
Project Characteristics: Ensolum, LLC (Ensolum) Consultant worked closely with municipal and private landfill clients to perform annual calculations for closure, post-closure, and life of site requirements in order to submit to state agencies and ALFA. These are annual requirements that landfills need to comply with in the event of closure.
Project Detail:
- Ensolum conducted a review of previous years’ closure and post-closure costs, life of site calculations, and all permit information.
- Ensolum contacted the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality and ALFA for their inflation rates, annual waste tonnage totals submitted in monthly waste reports, and reviewed internal worksheets.
- Ensolum staff put together a Request for Information (RFI) to gather facility information and changes from the previous year that included expansion of cells, construction information, monitoring equipment, drainage and erosion control, leachate management, sampling and analysis, landfill cover, and other pertinent information.
- Ensolum staff then created calculation worksheet tables for closure and post-closure calculations, input the information received, and calculated costs for all landfill categories. In addition, Ensolum staff provided Life of Site calculations from engineering formulas and waste tonnage information.
- All completed calculations were compiled in tables and submitted to the appropriate regulatory authority for each client.
