Project: Spill Response and Remediation

Project Characteristics: Ensolum, LLC (Ensolum) Consultants worked closely and collaborated with the client and their other contractors, as well as affected stakeholders, and state agencies on a pipeline release resulting in 20 barrels of product migrating off-site and into navigable waters.

  • Ensolum provided response oversight, direction, support and documentation on behalf of the client during the initial corrective action progress.

  • Our consultants implemented a combination of excavation and in-situ remediation activities to recover free liquids and remove/treat contaminated soil affected by the release. There was clear and constant communication with on-site client and stakeholder personnel to ensure that additional assets were not compromised during remediation activities.

  • Following remediation, Ensolum geologists developed a sampling program to determine whether various chemicals of concern (COC’s) remained on site, in accordance with regulatory guidelines set by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Soil sample analyses had shown that the targeted COC’s were either not detected or less than the applicable protective contamination levels (PCL’s) set by the TCEQ.

  • Based on the results of the sampling program, Ensolum had determined that the response actions performed on the site were completed in accordance with TCEQ guidelines and no further investigation or remediation was required.

  • Ensolum’s findings were submitted in a report to the TCEQ, and the project was subsequently closed.
